01 · The makerspace

Learning can be hands-on.

Millbrae Library’s makerspace opened on April 13, 2024. San Mateo County Libraries describes equipment and activities including 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, photography equipment, memory-lab digitization, coding robots, and jewelry making.

The makerspace story matters because it expands the meaning of a public library: it is a place to make, experiment, preserve memories, and learn with other people—not only a place to retrieve information.

Access is part of learning.

Language practice

Conversation clubs and multilingual programming can make a public institution easier to enter for people at different stages of learning English or another language.

Digital confidence

Digital help, Wi‑Fi, computers, and technology programs help residents complete everyday tasks, find reliable information, and participate online.

City meetings

For public meetings, the City Clerk—not the library—handles meeting accessibility and language-assistance arrangements. Contact the Clerk early when a meeting requires special support.
